Thiruppulla Boothankudi Divya desam

This temple is near Kumbakonam city. On the way there is one more Divya desam called Adhanoor. Many buses from Kumbakonam bus stand pass through this temple.

The final funeral of Jadaayu was done under a “ Punnai” tree in this temple by Lord Rama himself.  Lord Vishnu gave his dharshan to Sri Rama and Sri Ramar gave his Dharshan to Thirumangai Mannan later.

This temple is beautiful and recently renovated by a businessman. Lord Vishnu showed Dharshan for himself at this temple. Sri Ramar born and brought up as an ordinary human being, met Lord Parasuramar (Previous avathaar). He minimized or reduced the egos of Parasuramar by defeating in a war with him and finally got his friendship and his blessings.

Sthala Vriksham is “ Padali Maram”. This temple is refereed as “ Adhirangeswaram” in Puranas  , which means that this temple has been built even before Sri Rangam Ranganathar temple. So this temple’s specialty is equivalent to that of Sri Rangam temple.

Thirumangai Alwar was short on construction items and funds to complete the construction of the big walls of the Srirangam temple. Sages adviced him to go to Adhanur  Divyadesam for help. Once here, he found a business man coming towards him with an empty Marakkal (a measuring bowl) in his hand.

When asked why he was carrying an empty measuring bowl with him, the business man answered that he was a messenger of Lord Ranganatha and that he would get what he wanted if he held the empty bowl in his hand and recited thrice the name of his favorite Lord.

Thirumangai  Alwar agreed and asked for wages for all those working here. The business man laid a condition. For all those who worked sincerely here, the sand would turn to Gold. For those who were lazy and insincere, the sand would remain as is.

It is one of the 9 vaishnava navagraha kshetram dedicated to Sri Sukran. Sri Sukran is belived to bring wealth, prosperity and happiness during 'sukra dasha' - hence visiting this temple on Friday will bring the greatest benefit of both Vishnu dharshan and Sukra Dharshan.

It is believed that a visit to this temple will cure devotees of their eye problems including helping regain lost vision.Since Lord Shukra, Lord Indra, Lord Brahma, Markandeya Maharishi, Parasara Maharishi, Mayan were all blessed by Lord Kolavilliraman specially here, visiting this temple gives all the Puniyam (Value of good deeds) gained by having Dharsan at all the 108 divyadesams.
